Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Josh Richardson
San Antonio Spurs Receive: F Talen Horton-Tucker
The Los Angeles Lakers are in win-now mode and don’t have time to wait for young players without cohesive role player skill-sets to develop. They need players who are ready to make an impact.
Josh Richardson is seven years older than Talen Horton-Tucker, but is still only 28 years old, fitting the mold of Los Angeles going a little younger this offseason.
Los Angeles has been shopping Horton-Tucker and San Antonio could have a real interest in him given that they are embarking on a rebuild.
The contract Horton-Tucker signed before the 2021-22 season is one that diminishes his value. He’s overpaid and has a final-year player option for the 2023-24 season, which means the Spurs would only be guaranteed to have him for this season.
