Indiana Pacers Receive: F/C Chris Boucher, C Khem Birch, 2023 First-Round Pick (TOR), 2024 First-Round Pick (Swap – TOR)
Toronto Raptors Receive: C Myles Turner
The NBA’s trade market can be a tricky thing to evaluate. Just when you think you’ve got a handle on currency rates, they change.
The Minnesota Timberwolves’ recent acquisition of Rudy Gobert has the potential to shock the system. The Jazz received three rotation players, three unprotected first-round picks, and a top-5 protected one for the 3x Defensive Player of the Year.
So, what is Myles Turner’s trade value relative to Gobert’s? He’s younger. He also, in contrast to the Stifle Tower, spaces the floor. On the other hand, while Turner is an above-average rim protector, he’s not a one-man defensive system in Gobert’s vein.
It’s also fair to conclude that the Wolves overpaid for Gobert. That doesn’t mean they’ll regret getting their guy, but it does mean the trade can’t function as a perfect precedent for a Turner deal.

In that light, this deal feels fair. The Pacers get an unprotected first from a team that, while strong, is likely to be sub-elite in 2022-23. If all goes well for the Pacers, who knows? That 2024 swap could work in their favor as well.
