Ben Simmons may typify this conundrum more than any player in the league.
He’s one of the best defensive players in the NBA, full stop. Simmons is a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year during any season that he’s healthy. He’s also got some of the best floor vision in the entire league.
For all the criticisms that are regularly made of him, he’s a very good player. Yet, those criticisms exist for a reason.
