Utah Jazz Receive: G Kyle Lowry, G Tyler Herro, 2023 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2028 First-Round Pick (MIA)
Miami Heat Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
Question: if you were starting an NBA franchise from scratch, would you rather have Donovan Mitchell or Tyler Herro?
On the one hand, Mitchell has a more proven record of production. Over his tenure with the Jazz, he’s established that he’s a bonafide number-one option on a playoff team.
On the other hand, Herro is three years younger. Furthermore, he hasn’t had the same opportunities as Mitchell. After all, Herro was drafted onto a Heat team that was already contending with a clear pecking order.
The 22-year-old has certainly flashed a star-caliber offensive game. Last year, he leveraged it into a Sixth Man of the Year award. Lots of people around the NBA believe he’s capable of shouldering a larger offensive role.
