Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies were the darlings of the 2021-22 season. After earning a spot in the 2021 NBA Postseason by defeating the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors in the NBA Play-In Tournament, they took their game to another level this past season.
The Grizzlies finished the season as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, finishing with the second-best record in the NBA. Their run in the postseason was stopped by the eventual NBA Champion Warriors in the second round, but this was still a step in the right direction.
Loaded with young talent, no one would blame the Memphis Grizzlies for sticking to this path and seeing where things take them. But, to hang with the truly elite, they may need another superstar to compete and they can make a competitive offer for Kevin Durant.
The Grizzlies have all of their first-round picks and an extra one from the Golden State Warriors in 2025 to add to a package that brings Kevin Durant to Memphis. Steven Adams is a sizable expiring contract that can be used to help match salary along with Dillon Brooks or Danny Green. There are several players on rookie deals that could appeal to Brooklyn as well such as Brandon Clarke, Desmond Bane, Ziaire Williams and 2022 first-round picks Jake LaRavia and David Roddy.

It is likely that the Memphis Grizzlies stay the course and don’t make a splash move. But if Durant ends up with a Western Conference rival, such as the Phoenix Suns, they could regret not making a harder push to acquire him.
