The 2022 NBA Draft came and went without the New York Knicks addressing their need at the point guard position. There was a lot of chatter about the Knicks attempting to move up in the draft to land Purdue guard Jaden Ivey, but it was ultimately not in the cards.
But, the Knicks did make some moves during the draft, completing multiple deals that netted them three future first-round picks with protections on them. It cost them the No. 11 overall pick, four future second-rounders and Kemba Walker.
Those deals won’t be able to be graded for a while, as we have to see what the Knicks do with the cap space and draft capital. It will likely be used to find a new starting point guard for the 2022-23 season.
Signing Jalen Brunson has been a popular prediction, as the Knicks are expected to go all-in on pursuing. But, they could also go back to the trade route now that they have so much more capital at their disposal.
