New York Knicks Receive: G De’Aaron Fox
Sacramento Kings Receive: G/F RJ Barrett, G Derrick Rose, 2023 First-Round Pick (via WAS), 2023 First-Round Pick (via DET)
Grant Hughes put this hypothetical trade package together over at Bleacher Report. He put together five realistic trade scenarios involving stars around the league between the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings was one of them.
These two teams were linked throughout the pre-draft process in rumors surrounding the No. 4 overall pick. The Kings ended up keeping the pick, selecting Keegan Murray out of Iowa. There were some discussions last year as well between the two teams in a deal centered around De’Aaron Fox and Julius Randle.
In this scenario, the Kings still end up trading Fox to the Knicks, but it is for a much different package. Instead of Randle, who signed an extension last offseason, the Kings are getting the Knicks’ best young building block in RJ Barrett.
In addition to Barrett, New York is sending out veteran point guard Derrick Rose, who will provide a scoring punch to the second unit. Sacramento is compensated with two future first-round picks, which will head their way via the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards.
