Making the Case: New York Knicks
Based on all of the action in the NBA rumor mill, it sounds as though the New York Knicks will be pretty intent on acquiring an external option at the point guard position.
We know what you’re thinking: “Why D’Angelo Russell?”
Well, of course, he’s not going to be the top name on any team’s wish list for point guards. If he is, then it’s probably time for whatever team that is to reconsider who is running the show.
The point is, that not every team is going to end up getting their ideal option. The Knicks have been linked as having an interest in Jalen Brunson for the longest time. It’s entirely possible he stays put with the Dallas Mavericks considering they can offer him a five-year deal and they are coming off a trip to the Western Conference Finals.

If the Knicks strike out on some of their top options, they could benefit from a low-risk trial run with D’Angelo Russell to see how it works out. He’s had his moments in the NBA and is capable of doing a little bit of everything with the basketball albeit not at an elite level.
