Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Evan Fournier, 2023 First-Round Pick (DAL via NYK)
New York Knicks Receive: G Collin Sexton
There is a general expectation around the league that the New York Knicks will pursue a point guard this summer. They’re most commonly linked to Kyrie Irving and Jalen Brunson.
Could Collin be a better option than either?
After all, Irving’s unreliability is well-documented. He’s a prodigious talent, but his willingness to consistently show up for work has understandably come into question. The Knicks, like any organization, could decide not to incur that risk.
On the other hand, Brunson has so such concerns. He had a breakout season in 2021-22. Still, it’s worth noting that he was in a contract year. He’s a great player, but the 24.3 points per game Sexton averaged in 2020-21 surpasses any statistical marker he’s likely to ever hit.

If the Knicks want to overlook his injury-riddled 2021-22 season and bank on his upside, this could be an appealing proposition.
