Worst Landing Spot: Phoenix Suns
There is an irony in this choice. With the NBA Draft having passed, and the Philadelphia 76ers having not traded for Eric Gordon, there is every likelihood that Gordon ends up on the Phoenix Suns.
That’s unfortunate. Boarding a ship as it’s sinking tends to be a regrettable decision.
These Phoenix Suns are in disarray. It looking increasingly unlikely that Deandre Ayton will remain with the squad. Chris Paul, while still a brilliant basketball player, is 37. It’s hard to say what the immediate future holds for this team, but it would be hard to find many reasons for optimism.
It feels likely that this team’s championship window has opened and shut. If they replace Ayton with lesser value heading into 2022-23, it’s hard to see how they’ll maintain the pace they’ve kept the last couple of years.
