Why The LA Clippers Do The Deal
The LA Clippers are swinging for the fences with this deal. With the roster they currently have, that may be the best decision.
After all, with a healthy Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, this team figures to be a major player in the race for the NBA title. Adding a player of Irving’s talents could push them over the edge. If he’s regularly suiting up, they should be the odds-on favorites to win it all in 2022-23.
It’s worth noting that, when he does play basketball, very few human beings are better at the sport than Kyrie Irving. He may be the best ball-handler of all time. From a pure talent ability, he’s one of the best we’ve seen in the history of the game.
Adding a player of that magnitude is not an opportunity that comes along every summer. Yes, there’s risk involved. Losing Powell and Morris Sr. for a player who finds a reason not to play would be a significant loss.
