Markelle Fultz
The Orlando Magic are in a bit of a bind when it comes to the point guard position. It’s not that they need a point guard: in fact, it’s quite the opposite. This team has a major logjam at the position.
Last year, they selected Jalen Suggs with the fifth overall pick in the NBA draft. They added Suggs to a roster already featuring Cole Anthony and Markelle Fultz. That’s before considering the potential that R.J. Hampton has flashed.
There are too many cooks in this kitchen. The Magic are about to select first overall in the upcoming draft. This team’s future is potentially bright. They should look to consolidate their unnecessary depth at point guard by trading one of these guys.
Markelle Fultz feels like the candidate. Anthony’s production was too strong in 2021-22, Suggs was too recently selected fifth, and Hampton won’t return enough value to be worth their time.
