LA Clippers Receive: G Kyle Lowry
Toronto Raptors Receive: F Marcus Morris, G Luke Kennard, 2023 First-Round Pick (Swap – MIA), 2024 First-Round Pick (Swap – MIA), 2026 First-Round Pick (Swap – MIA), 2027 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2028 First-Round Pick (MIA)
Miami Heat Receive: F/C Pascal Siakam
This deal likely won’t be well-received by Toronto Raptors fans. Trading your best player for a slew of pick swaps one year after a playoff run rarely is. That doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a defensible decision.
This deal is about the future. It’ll set the Raptors back in the short-term, but such an influx of draft capital could set them up to make a massive stride when Scottie Barnes hits his prime.
Most of the picks involved here are swaps. The Stepien rule will disallow the Miami Heat from offering most of their selections outright. Still, the Raptors would now control the majority of their draft through to 2028.
When the iron is hot, this deal will allow the Raptors to strike. It could grease the wheels on the trade that sends a co-star there was when Barnes needs one. If the Raptors want to make an investment in their future, this is a reasonable course of action.

Meanwhile, it’s an all-in move for the Heat. Another trip to the Conference Finals following this trade would qualify as nothing short of a failure.
