Fair enough. Only, if you really stop and think about it, this deal makes perfect sense. It gives both teams an injection of what they need.

The Toronto Raptors need a center. Ironically, they spent much of 2021-22 with Pascal Siakam filling that role. Still, Adebayo is a significantly stronger rim protector. He’d give the Raptors a lot of the big man production they were missing last season.

Meanwhile, he’s still a capable ball-handler and playmaker. Adebayo gives them their center without compromising their philosophy of running multiple big playmakers.

Meanwhile, Siakam serves the Miami Heat better due to his superior floor-spacing. Between Adebayo and Butler, two of the team’s highest usage players struggle in that vital aspect of the game. Siakam opens up the floor for their attack and compensates for Butler’s struggles from distance.

With that said, maybe Adebayo is too ingrained into the Heat’s system and culture. They may not be willing to part with him. If that’s the case, this next deal may suit both sides better.
