Shaedon Sharpe is one of the most intriguing players in the upcoming 2022 NBA Draft. He also happens to be the most difficult to gauge. His blue-chip pedigree and tantalizing potential make him a safe lottery pick, but his lack of tape against high-level competition and experience give a wide range of potential landing spots.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see Sharpe land anywhere between picks four and ten, and arguments could be made for him going both earlier and later.

After joining the University of Kentucky Wildcats for their 2021-22 season, eligibility issues kept him off of the court for John Calipari’s squad, but he did qualify to enter this year’s draft and chose to do so despite hinting at a possible return to Kentucky for next season.

After electing not to participate in scrimmages at the NBA Draft combine, it was reported that an anonymous NBA executive would balk at the idea of selecting Sharpe with one of the premier picks.

Of course, this could just be a perfect example of the mind games that come into play during the offseason. This report could be a ploy to try to tank Sharpe’s draft stock so that he falls into the “anonymous executive’s” team’s range.

It has also been reported that the Oklahoma City Thunder have been doing extensive research into Sharpe, though, which could mean three different things.

Either OKC is confident enough to take him with their second-overall pick, they expect him to be available when their 12th-overall pick rolls around, or they at least anticipate the opportunity to trade into a selection for Sharpe.
