If the Washington Wizards are interested in draft capital, this may be the best they can do for Beal.
No, it’s not the same sheer mass of picks that the Rockets received for James Harden, but we shouldn’t treat that as a precedent. Firstly, Harden is better than Beal. More importantly, the Wizards receive a pick that they already know will land in the top 10 with this package.
Now, they’ll be able to pick back-to-back, as they already own the tenth pick. The youth movement will get fully underway in the nation’s capital following this deal.
As for the San Antonio Spurs, the idea of a Dejounte Murray and Bradley Beal backcourt has to be enticing. Murray is one of the best defensive point guards in the NBA, and a high-end playmaker as well. Meanwhile, Beal is solid on both ends of the floor and a lethal off-ball threat.

They seem like an obvious match. This deal has the Spurs bringing them together without giving up much in terms of their best players. Still, if the Wizards insist on one of their building blocks, this backcourt has enough potential that it may be worth the cost.
