Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are one of the few teams in this year’s draft that hold multiple first-rounders. While they’ll be likely to take one of the class’s top three forwards with their third-overall selection, Johnny Davis could fall into their laps with their second pick at 17.
There’s a chance that Davis goes higher, but the league’s depth at guard and general distaste for non-shooting ones and twos could cause the former Wisconsin Badger to take a slight dip outside of the lottery. Luckily for Davis, there are a handful of teams in that immediate post-lottery range that could be a perfect fit for his talents including the Houston Rockets.
Between Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr., and Christian Wood, the Houston Rockets aren’t short on perimeter creation or outside shooting. Some things that Houston is lacking are a consistent source of rim pressure and point-of-attack defense. Johnny Davis happens to excel in both of those categories.
With Green, Wood, and the Houston Rockets’ other snipers spacing the floor for him, Davis should have plenty of open lanes to attack the rim or get into his patented mid-range jumper.

Davis’ combination of size, length, playmaking, and defense are perfect foils for Jalen Green’s strengths in the backcourt. Unless Houston shocks the world by taking Jaden Ivey third overall, they’d be wise to look at Davis with their second first-round pick.
