Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Evan Fournier, 2023 First-Round Pick (DAL)
New York Knicks Receive: G Buddy Hield
If we assume that the New York Knicks want to improve this summer, upgrading the shooting guard position would be a good way to go. Is the upgrade from Fournier to Hield a large enough one to justify parting with a first-round pick?
It’s a question without an easy answer. Neither man is known as a major defensive presence. With that said, the discrepancy in their floor spacing is significant.
Fournier is a solid shooter, but Hield is one of the most lethal three-point shooters in the business. That counts a lot for a team who utilizes Julius Randle as a point forward. The more spacing they can put around him, the better.
Meanwhile, this should be an easy yes for the Pacers. They’re essentially swapping Hield for a first-round pick. With that said, if they want a more proven NBA contributor, that would be a reasonable position.
