Jonathan Isaac’s NBA career to date has been maddening.

When he’s been able to take to the floor, he’s a menace. His combination of length and lateral mobility ought to lend itself to multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards someday. Unfortunately, injuries have limited him to more time on the sidelines than on the court.

Compounding the issue seems to be Isaac’s personality. Without digging too deep into that issue, let’s just say he harbors some unorthodox views that he’s not ashamed of.

If the Blazers have an appetite for risk here, this could pay off in a big way. If Isaac is healthy and producing at his highest potential, nobody’s going to care where he casts his vote. On the other hand, if the Blazers are unwilling to find out, that’s understandable too.
