If they want to add a point guard and embrace Immanuel Quickley as a sixth-man, they could package players like Derrick Rose, Kemba Walker, and Taj Gibson together for salary matching purposes. Where the main value would come for the Minnesota Timberwolves would be moving up eight spots in the NBA Draft order.
What the Timberwolves would do moving up in a weak draft probably isn’t overly consequential in the grand scheme of things. However, the Knicks would still be picking inside the top 20 of the NBA Draft without having to part with anything major.
