Indiana Pacers Receive: G Eric Gordon, F Jae’Sean Tate, 2023 First-Round Pick (MIL)
Houston Rockets Receive: C Myles Turner
The Indiana Pacers are an organization that generally avoids long-term rebuilds. If they wish to stay consistent with that philosophy, this deal ought to suit them.
After all, they’re getting a rugged, hard-working defensive wing in Jae’Sean Tate. He may struggle with floor-spacing, but he’s a surprisingly deft ball-handler and capable playmaker on the offensive end as well.
With this deal, the Pacers still free up room at the 5 while giving themselves a better chance to stay competitive in 2022-23. Meanwhile, the Rockets save a draft pick by including Tate in the deal.
Deciding which pick was a chore. We figured Indiana should get the more valuable one, but which one is more valuable? Ultimately, we landed on the Milwaukee pick. While the Bucks are likely to be one of the league’s top teams, disaster can always strike. If it does, the Rockets could end up regretting this deal.

With that in mind, maybe there’s a way to arrange a trade wherein the Rockets don’t have to give it up in order to acquire Turner.
