Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F John Collins, G/F Bogdan Bogdanovic, G Kevin Huerter
Atlanta Hawks Receive: C/F Anthony Davis
If the Los Angeles Lakers were choosing between the first two deals, it would be a matter of top-end talent vs depth.
Either way, they’re getting Collins. As we said, he’s the starting point in the negotiations here. Would they prefer Hunter or a combination of Bogdanovic and Huerter?
Hunter is likely the best player of the 3. He’s exactly the type of 3-and-D wing that modern contenders covet. At the same time, Huerter’s 3-and-D chops aren’t too shabby either. Meanwhile, Bogdanovic brings an element of from-scratch creation that this team is sorely lacking outside of LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.
The Lakers could reason that, with such a shallow roster, they should add two quality players at the expense of one high-quality one. With that said, either team could decline either of the first two deals proposed here. The Lakers could simply want more for Davis.

Meanwhile, the AtlantaHawks would be creating a logjam by adding Davis, as they already roster Clint Capela and Onyeka Onkongwu. In adding a third team, the Lakers and Hawks could alleviate both of those concerns.
