With the NBA offseason right around the corner, all but two teams are preparing for what should be a very busy few months. Among those teams are the New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder, who both missed the playoffs during the 2021-22 NBA season. Could the two come together on a massive trade that would send star point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to New York?

Gilgeous-Alexander has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors over the past couple of years. While he has been mentioned in rumors, the Thunder have not seemed highly motivated to move the young guard.

Over the last few years, the Knicks have been searching to bring in a legitimate star to play with Julius Randle. They have wanted that star to be a franchise-caliber point guard. There would be no better pickup for New York than finding a way to acquire Gilgeous-Alexander.

During the 2021-22 NBA season with the Thunder, Gilgeous-Alexander ended up averaging 24.5 points per game to go along with 5.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals. He shot 45.3 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 30 percent of his three-point attempts.
