We deliberated at length over whether to include Devin Vassell or Keldon Johnson in this exchange. Ultimately, we landed on Vassell.
After all, Johnson just had a breakout season, and he’s only 22. Vassell is a great consolation prize as a potential high-end 3-and-D wing with some shot creation skills.
In fact, parting with him will sting the Spurs. On the other hand, they’ve got Keldon Johnson! They’re not necessarily interchangeable, but they are very similar players.
Of course, that leaves the possibility of Johnson being available open, doesn’t it? If the Knicks absolutely insisted on landing him, they may be able to persuade the Knicks.
