Indiana Pacers Receive: G Collin Sexton, G/F Isaac Okoro, F Dylan Windler, G Lamar Stevens
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: C Myles Turner, G Buddy Hield
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: C/F Anthony Davis
Buddy Hield was supposed to be a Laker. He was so close to landing in the purple-and-gold that ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that a deal was done.
We don’t get fake Woj bombs very often.
You probably know the history. Hield never came to LA, and Russell Westbrook came in his stead. The Lakers chose talent over fit. It got them a 33-win season. With this deal, they rectify history.
It just so happens that Hield is a perfect backcourt partner for Westbrook. He’s one of the most reliable floor-spacers in the NBA. Meanwhile, Myles Turner is the 3-and-D big man that’s built to maximize Westbrook as well. Remember, these trades operate under the assumption that the Lakers tried, and failed, to find good value for Westbrook.
