Washington Wizards Receive: C/F Anthony Davis
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Bradley Beal
File this one under the “why not” category.
This deal finds each team doing something different for the sake of it. After the disappointment each endured in 2021-22, that’s not a bad idea at face value.
The Lakers would be pairing Beal in the backcourt with Russell Westbrook. That’s something that’s been tried before, with limited success. On the other hand, when they teamed up in Washington, they weren’t flanked by a certain player named LeBron James. After replacing Davis at cost, this deal could make the Lakers a more lethal offensive team in 2022-23.
Meanwhile, the Wizards formulate a modernized twin tower look here. They’ll be pairing Davis with Kristaps Porzingis. It would make for an impenetrable interior defense.

On the other hand, either side could reject this deal. The Lakers could determine that Davis is irreplaceable. Meanwhile, the Wizards may decide that if they’re dealing Beal, they’re rebuilding. In either case, the next deal would alleviate those concerns.
