Philadelphia 76ers
We know what you’re thinking. How much firepower can one NBA team need?
The Philadelphia 76ers already roster MVP runner-up Joel Embiid. They’ll be hoping James Harden’s declining play owes more to injuries than age. Even if it doesn’t, Tyrese Maxey is emerging as a star. Shouldn’t they be set for 2022-23?
Well, yes and no. The issue is how badly the roster thins out after the Big 3. Tobias Harris is paid like a star, but his production did not match his salary in 2021-22. After that, it gets ugly. Danny Green is out for the season. Matisse Thybulle is an elite defender who provides almost nothing on offense. Shake Milton is fine but uninspiring.
The Sixers need depth. LeVert feels like a perfect addition. The sixth man role we envisioned for him above would be readily available to him in Philly. He’d offer relief to Philly’s trio of stars when they needed rest.

That’s huge. The NBA season is a marathon. Without sufficient depth, the Philadelphia 76ers will have to treat it like a sprint from opening night. By acquiring LeVert, they can save their legs to an extent.
