Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Toronto Raptors

Taking a look at the other side of this trade, the Raptors are in need of some help in the front-court. While most believe that they should target a center, adding a power forward like Kyle Kuzma could make sense as well.

Quite simply, the similarities between OG Anunoby and Scottie Barnes are too clear to miss. They made it work this season, but there are major question marks about the fit moving forward. Anunoby has also been mentioned in quite a few trade rumors and speculations without the offseason even beginning.

A talent like Kuzma could be intriguing to add. However, the biggest factor in making this trade would be acquiring the No. 10 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. The Raptors would be able to use that selection to add yet another young and talented piece to their core.

Speaking of Kuzma and the impact he could make immediately, he averaged 17.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game for the Wizards. Kuzma also shot 45.2 percent from the floor and 34.1 percent from the three-point line.

Losing the defense that Anunoby brings to the court is a tough decision to make, but the Raptors have Barnes to fill that void. Kuzma would bring more offense and a legitimate starting power forward with a different play style than Barnes. The No. 10 pick makes this trade hard to pass on.

All of that being said, the Raptors have some decisions to make this offseason. After getting into the playoffs and losing in the first round to the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto needs to get aggressive. This is the exact kind of move to make if they want to make a strong move to take the next step.
