This one would certainly make waves around the NBA. If the Spurs made his deal, they’d suddenly have an opportunity to select a franchise player in the upcoming 2022 NBA Draft.
If projections are to be trusted, they’d likely be choosing between Chet Holmgren and Paolo Banchero here. Most rumors have the Orlando Magic going with sweet-shooting forward Jabari Smith Jr.
Subjectively, Holmgren feels like a Spur. He’d allow the organization to continue in their tradition of building around a defensive-minded big man.

As for the Thunder, they’ll continue stockpiling future first-round picks following this deal. They’ll only accept it if they don’t feel confident that any of the talent available with the second pick will be franchise-altering.
