3. Malik Monk
If the Detroit Pistons are unable to find a player to sign a max contract, they could opt to sign multiple players to multi-year deals. Breaking it up may not be the worst thing, as Detroit could use help at virtually every position on the roster.
One player that could draw their attention is Malik Monk. Monk didn’t receive much interest last offseason after four underwhelming seasons with the Charlotte Hornets. So, he took an unorthodox approach, signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers for the veteran’s minimum despite coming off his rookie contract.
It proved to be an excellent decision, as Malik Monk put together the best season of his career. Being on a veteran-laden team helped him mature and learn how to be a professional basketball player. It helped get his career back on track, as the Kentucky product should cash in this offseason.
He averaged 13.8 points per game on an impressive 47.3 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from the 3-point line. He added 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists as well, filling numerous roles for Los Angeles as one of the healthiest players on the team, appearing in 76 games.

Needing an offensive boost, Malik Monk would be a good fit for Detroit as a combo guard off the bench that can step into the starting lineup when need be. He played some backup point guard for Los Angeles and had some huge scoring nights as well.
A contract paying him $10 million per season could be enough to convince him to leave Los Angeles, a place he loves and a team that would love to have him back.
