Players that are hitting free agency this summer in the NBA may be met with colder than anticipated targets. With such a limited number of teams possessing cap space, there won’t be much money to hand out.
One team that will be looking to take advantage of the market is the Detroit Pistons. Detroit is one of the few teams projected to have cap space and they are looking to spend to start pushing their rebuild forward.
Detroit has the No. 1 overall pick from the 2021 NBA Draft in Cade Cunningham as the foundation to build around. Any move they make this offseason needs to have him in mind. They are adding another high-level player to the mix with the fifth pick in the 2022 NBA Draft joining Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes.
Their treasure trove of assets could get bigger if they decide to trade Jerami Grant in the coming weeks as well. Regardless of what happens with Grant, this is an organization that will be looking to add talent to the roster this offseason.
