Golden State Warriors Receive: C Christian Wood, G Eric Gordon
Houston Rockets Receive: F Andrew Wiggins, C James Wiseman, No. 28 Overall Pick
The Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets are currently at different ends of the spectrum. While Golden State is contending for Larry O’Brien Trophies, Houston is in the early stages of a rebuild. That is partly why the two teams would make for good trade partners.
Potentially having multiple spots in their rotation to fill, the Warriors make a call to the Rockets, who happen to have some established players they could be interested in moving. If they do not want to sign Christian Wood to a long-term deal, getting value for him now makes sense.
That value comes in the form of James Wiseman, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and a first-round pick in this year’s draft, No. 28 overall. Both assets fit what the Rockets are looking for at this stage of their rebuild.
Looking to bolster their wing position, even more, the Warriors ask to get Eric Gordon in the deal as well. Houston likes what Gordon brings to the table, but knowing they are getting an All-Star in Andrew Wiggins in the deal, they could be swayed into swinging a deal.
