Golden State Warriors Receive: C Myles Turner
Indiana Pacers Receive: C James Wiseman, F Jonathan Kuminga
In this scenario, the Golden State Warriors are going for it all again during the 2022-23 season. This could be motivated by coming up short against the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals, or that the front office is saying luxury tax be damned, they want to compete for championships as long as possible.
This is the kind of trade that the Indiana Pacers could be enticed by as they begin their competitive rebuild. There isn’t a first-round pick involved in the deal, but they are getting some high-upside youngsters to insert into the rotation.
James Wiseman was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Injuries have derailed him in the early going, as he didn’t step on the court in his sophomore season. While he possesses great potential, the Warriors are looking to win now and he may not help them do that.
The Pacers can afford him the opportunity to develop and hone his skills. The same can be said for Jonathan Kuminga, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Kuminga is a raw prospect, relying on his athleticism right now to make an impact. He has shown some flashes, but if the Warriors are going for it all, you need to give something to get something.

Turner helps the Warriors compete for a title in 2023 more than Wiseman or Kuminga. While they have the potential to develop into better players down the road, Golden State needs to maximize the title window of their core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Turner’s ability to knock down 3-pointers and be a presence defensively as a shot-blocker is a great fit for the Warriors. Curry, Thompson, Wiggins, Green and Turner would be one of the most daunting starting fives to face off against in the league.
