Making the Case: Indiana Pacers
It makes sense for the Indiana Pacers to find Malcolm Brogdon a new home. At 29 years old he’s nearing the end of his prime and doesn’t fit the timeline of the Pacers’ sudden rebuild.
What doesn’t make sense is trading Brogdon away for a smorgasbord of veterans and future assets. The Indiana Pacers have absolutely no use for Devonte’ Graham or Garrett Temple and neither player is likely to return anything significant in a later trade.
Trey Murphy is a promising 3-and-D wing, and a future first-round pick is certainly something that Indiana should be targeting in any sort of trade for Malcolm Brogdon.
In the end, this deal does aid the Pacers in their rebuild around Tyrese Haliburton, but fans would be left wondering if the team could have gotten more in return for such a high-quality starter.

The Pelicans have plenty of young players to offer and a cache of future first-rounders from their trades with the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks when they dealt away Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday. Indiana would be wise to try to tack on additional young prospects or draft capital in any deal they’re to make with New Orleans.
