At this point, any backcourt depth for the LA Clippers is not going to hurt – especially after what transpired this NBA season.
Los Angeles was without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for much of the season. This is not a recipe for success when a team loses its star duo. Entering this offseason, the Clippers are expected to be healthy and return as championship contenders.
The Clippers’ front office could be looking for more help in the backcourt. This was a priority since Leonard and George came to town. After a strong postseason last year, Reggie Jackson was given an extension to solidify the point guard position. Now, there is another Western Conference foe that could be looking to unload a contract.
It might be strange to call the Minnesota Timberwolves a foe in the Western Conference but they were able to make a bit of noise in the playoffs this year.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Will LA Clippers Keep Ivica Zubac Long-Term Amid Contract Rumors?
Minnesota finished at the seventh seed in the conference this season before losing to the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round. This was a series that saw Minnesota blow multiple double-digit leads in the fourth quarter. With Anthony Edwards emerging as a star, along with Karl-Anthony Towns, the Timberwolves seem to be in a good place moving forward.
The future plans might not include D’Angelo Russell, who has one year left on his contract. He has been in rumors as a trade piece and could be on the move this offseason. If Los Angeles is interested, there is a deal that could land Russell back in town immediately.
