This deal finds the Utah Jazz and Dallas Mavericks swapping European sharpshooters.

While both are strong floor-spacers (and European), the comparisons end there. Bogdanovic is a significantly more well-rounded offensive player. He can create his own shots in addition to spacing the floor.

By contrast, Bertans is more of a standstill shooter. Furthermore, Bertans is a notoriously bad defender.

Bogdanovic isn’t making a run for the All-First team either, but he is a more fluid athlete with superior lateral mobility. He’s at least capable of holding his own on the less glamorous side of the floor.

He’s an upgrade, period. The Mavericks would be happy to make this swap in the interest of gearing up for a title run in 2022-23.
