3. Christian Wood

The one position that the Golden State Warriors may have to fill this offseason with a trade is the center spot. They could be short-handed there if Kevon Looney receives an offer sheet too good to pass up from another team and leaves the Bay Area.

In that scenario, James Wiseman would step into a bigger role, but it is uncertain if the Warriors can count on him to produce for a win-now team. If they don’t feel that he is ready, they can flip him for an established player such as Christian Wood.

Wood would be an excellent fit for the Warriors. As the likely fourth option offensively, Golden State’s already devastating offense would be that much tougher to slow down with Wood included.

Offensively he would open things up even more as a floor-stretching big man. For his career, he is a 38 percent shooter from 3-point range. Draymond Green would have a field day having so many shooters to kick the ball out to on offense.

Defensively, he isn’t a slouch either. Christian Wood is an excellent rebounder, averaging 11.1 per 36-minutes in his career. He can offer some rim protection and is athletic enough to hold his own on the perimeter in switching situations as well.

There are scenarios that the Warriors wouldn’t need to include Andrew Wiggins to acquire him, truly going all-in on winning a championship during the 2022-23 season.

If they want to retain some of their young players, Wiggins can be included and the deal expanded to include someone such as Eric Gordon as well.
