Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: F Harrison Barnes, C Richaun Holmes, 2022 First-Round Pick (SAC – No.4), 2024 First-Round Pick (SAC)
Sacramento Kings Receive: G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
The Oklahoma City Thunder are venturing into uncharted water. It’s arguable that no team in NBA history has ever turned an eye so sharply to the future.
For that reason, their standing with current franchise player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is surprisingly shaky. At 23, one would think he’d be an ideal cornerstone for a rebuilding team.
The Thunder aren’t like other rebuilding teams. They’ve focused all of their efforts on acquiring first-round picks. Those efforts would be wasted if they didn’t force some of their own picks to convey in the lottery.
Meanwhile, the Kings don’t have the same luxury to be patient. Having traded for Domantas Sabonis at last year’s deadline, they need to break the longest playoff drought in NBA history next season. They could use a player of Gilgeous-Alexander’s quality right now.

On the other hand, the Thunder could use the fourth overall pick. They’d surely love to add an unprotected 2024 first-round pick as well. This deal would have the potential to satisfy both sides.
