Utah Jazz Receive: F John Collins, F De’Andre Hunter, F Jalen Johnson, 2023 First-Round Pick (ATL)
Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
If you weren’t expecting a Donovan Mitchell trade in this piece, we honestly don’t know what to tell you.
Go ahead, Google “Donovan Mitchell.” We’ll wait. If none of the top results suggest that he might be on the move this offseason, call support. Your Google is broken.
The Atlanta Hawks would make for an interesting landing spot for Mitchell. He’d form one of the most offensively potent, defensively deficient backcourts in the National Basketball Association. Those defensive limitations may limit their upside, but if nothing else, they’d be a lot of fun.
We like this deal for the Jazz too. As a small-market club, they’re usually opposed to long-term rebuilding processes.

While other teams may opt for a larger platter of draft picks, the Jazz should be happy to acquire two players with proven NBA contributions, and another high-upside young player in Johnson.
If the Hawks think they can structure a component defensive frontcourt around this diminutive guard pairing, and Mitchell is requesting a trade anyway, this deal makes sense for both sides.
