Dallas Mavericks receive: G/F Ben Simmons

Brooklyn Nets receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, G Tim Hardaway Jr., 2024 first-round pick

Looking at this trade, the Mavericks would be adding a potential star partner with Luka Doncic. Granted, there are major concerns about Ben Simmons’ health and his drive to actually play the game, but it’s a trade worth considering.

Giving up Spencer Dinwiddie and Tim Hardaway Jr. should be no deal-breaker for Dallas. As for the Brooklyn Nets, they would be getting two pieces who could come in and contribute immediately alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. That makes this trade make sense for them already.

Both of these teams need to change some things up around their respective stars. If Simmons does come in healthy and driven to play, the Mavericks would immediately take a step forward.

Simmons’ ability on the defensive side of the floor alone would be extremely valuable for Dallas.

For the Nets, giving up Simmons is a no-brainer at this point in time. After the circus that he put them through regarding his playing status in the playoffs, they should be open to moving on. For this kind of price, the trigger should be pulled.
