Making the Case: Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets were planning an extended stay in the postseason, but this was not the case after an inconsistent regular season.
It began early on when there were off-the-court issues involving Irving and his vaccination status. This led to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving spending little time on the court together. Even Joe Harris was injured over the most critical part of the season. Once they could get healthy and mandates were lifted, the team did not have a chance to gel.
Brooklyn is expected to be back next season but might need to make some changes. Gobert is the type of big man that would give the Nets a boost right away.
The Nets have brought in veterans, like LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin, to provide a punch down low. Gobert would take this to the next level, given his defensive ability.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: 3 Ben Simmons Trade Ideas The Brooklyn Nets Should Pursue
Gobert shot 71.3% from the field this season, which means many of his attempts were within three feet. Gobert is also a productive big man around the rim. He can be a pick-and-roll man with Irving on the perimeter and is difficult to guard in the block.
Gobert could be coming to town if the Nets want to make a splash. This all depends on how the front office views Simmons and his chances of returning.
