The Atlanta Hawks are a team primed to make some changes to their roster during the 2022 offseason. They decided to run things back for the 2021-22 season after advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2021 NBA Playoffs. However, the results weren’t nearly as positive this past season.
The Hawks finished ninth in the Eastern Conference, needing to defeat the Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Play-In Tournament to make the postseason field. They matched up with the Miami Heat in the first round and were defeated handily.
General manager Travis Schlenk has said they will try and make upgrades this season, as they will not be running it back again. The first-round series with the Heat showed just how much work this roster still has to do before being considered contenders.
