Detroit Pistons Receive: C Richaun Holmes, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 4 – SAC)

This trade once again sees the Sacramento Kings moving the fourth pick. This time, they’re seeking veteran talent over a blue-chip prospect.

Many observers expect the Portland Trail Blazers to pursue Grant. There’s no reason the Kings can’t beat them to the punch. With Portland picking seventh, they don’t have a package that can beat this one. If the Kings wanted Grant badly enough, he’s likely theirs.

After all, this trade is a no-brainer for the Pistons. They’ve already got the fifth overall pick. This trade allows them to select back-to-back. They’d be adding considerable talent to a young core that’s already electrified their fanbase.

Some may argue that the Kings are overpaying for Grant here. We wouldn’t necessarily disagree.

Still, that sense of urgency we referred to looms over this franchise. If they don’t make the playoffs next year, who knows?

They may find themselves relocating to Seattle before they do.
