Making the Case: Washington Wizards
Deandre Ayton would be the first true face-of-the-franchise player that the Washington Wizards have employed since John Wall. DC has been in desperate need of a star to root forever since, and Ayton on a fresh max deal would be just that.
The fit in Washington could be very intriguing. As teams like the Boston Celtics advance deep in the playoffs, it’s seeming that supersized teams could be returning to fashion.
A lineup of Deni Avdija, Rui Hachimura, Kyle Kuzma, Kristaps Porzingis, and Ayton, for example, could swallow space on the defensive end. Meanwhile, Kuzma and Porzingis are well-equipped to space the floor, while Ayton’s midrange touch is impeccable.
Bradley Beal has been rumored to be a possible trade piece for years – ever since the departure of Wall. The Washington Wizards would be doing right by him to send him to Phoenix, a true contender. Meanwhile, Washington might even be better off from the deal.

This deal is a massive blockbuster, so its feasibility is questionable. Still, it would be great for all teams involved.
