How This Trade Impacts Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks have to consolidate their roster this offseason. General manager Travis Schlenk said that the team will look to make some moves this offseason after essentially running it back and retaining everyone last offseason.
It is hard to blame the Hawks for that approach, as they advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021. However, a first-round exit in this year’s postseason should lead to shaking things up.
Acquiring a superstar such as Anthony Davis would certainly qualify as shaking things up. Davis would make for an intriguing duo alongside Trae Young, who the Hawks should be looking to pair with another high-level player. When healthy, Davis is one of the best players in the league and would make for an excellent co-star.
The place that Davis would help the Hawks out the most is on the defensive end of the floor. Inserting him into the lineup alongside Clint Capela provides the Hawks with two intimidating presences at the rim as shot blockers and should help improve the 26th-ranked defense.

Parting ways with two rotation players in John Collins and Kevin Huerter, along with one draft pick is never easy, but Davis will raise their ceiling exponentially as long as he is healthy. That kind of upside is tough to pass up on and the Hawks are getting Davis at somewhat of a discount when you consider what it cost the Lakers to acquire him from the New Orleans Pelicans just three years ago.
