Damian Lillard
Many of the same justifications for pairing LeBron James with Chris Paul overlap with the argument for pairing him with Damian Lillard. It’s a pretty simple argument: if you get James a point guard who can space the floor and share initiation duties, he will cook.
We already saw those principles in full effect when James shared the court with Kyrie Irving. They won a championship together. Consider this a bet that teaming up with Lillard would give him another opportunity to do the same.
Damian Lillard won’t offer Paul’s defensive acumen, but at this point in their careers, he’s a more dynamic on-ball threat. Much of that owes to the gap in their ages, which, of course, is why the Lakers probably won’t be able to trade for Lillard.
Still, fate could find the two stars together somehow. Who knows: if the Blazers draft Bronny James, it might not be in Los Angeles that they’re sharing the floor together.

We merely said these were stars we’d like to see James team up with. We didn’t say it had to be with the Los Angeles Lakers.
