The Mavericks finished 19th in the league shooting 35% from deep as a team. This is the reason the front office has been attempting to rebuild the backcourt around Doncic.

Tim Hardaway Jr. signed a four-year deal to remain in Dallas but struggled with injuries this season. Brunson stepped in as the starting point guard but might leave in free agency after his value increased.

Brunson averaged 16.3 points per game this season and is improving during the playoffs. If Brunson leaves in free agency, the Dallas Mavericks will need some more help in the backcourt.

Huerter might not be a point guard but he is a dynamic option that could only improve with some more time. He would provide a scoring and shooting punch off the bench for the Mavericks during their upcoming years of competition. 

The Dallas Mavericks have built a winner in the Western Conference and even won a series this season. Now, it is about continuing to take steps forward in the West toward a championship.
