For the last few years, the New York Knicks have been gearing up to make a run at an All-Star acquisition. Leon Rose has done a great job stockpiling draft picks and signing players to deals that can be used to facilitate trades down the line. Could this be the offseason that they strike?

If it is, Donovan Mitchell is someone that would make sense as their trade target. Some big changes look like they are on the horizon in Salt Lake City and New York could take advantage. They sent a contingent to watch the Jazz play in their first-round series against the Dallas Mavericks to watch.

There were reports earlier in the season that the Jazz was another first-round exit away from Donovan Mitchell being in New York. Well, the first-round exit occurred, and the only thing that is left is the trade.

Donovan Mitchell is the go-to, No. 1 scorer that this team needs. He would take a ton of pressure off of Julius Randle or RJ Barrett, whichever of the two remained with the Knicks after the deal. New York should push to retain Barrett, as trading him away would certainly set their rebuilding efforts back.
