The Brooklyn Nets are wagering that Anthony Davis’ recent health issues are temporary. That’s no small wager. He’s been on and off the IL for the better part of two seasons.

On the other hand, if he’s healthy, he’ll be the best big man Kevin Durant has ever played with. If he can get his woeful 2021-22 three-point accuracy closer to his typical career standard, he’ll also be a sufficient floor-spacer for Ben Simmons.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers are betting that James knows how to reign Irving in more than any other player in the league. We’ve already seen what those two can accomplish together. If the Lakers can attach draft capital to Russell Westbrook’s contract to further flesh out the roster, they could be dangerous in 2022-23.
