Jonathan Kuminga may be the most intriguing trade chip the Golden State Warriors could offer a rebuilding team. In fact, he’s got the kind of potential that could make this trade look bad for them in hindsight.
An extremely mobile 6’8 wing with a good wingspan, Kuminga’s physical traits are enticing. He’s also got an outstanding handle relative to those proportions. He’s raw, but once the game slows down for him, he could be a top-10 player in the making.
In dealing him, the Warriors are conceding to a narrow window. The trio of Curry, Thompson, and Green aren’t getting any younger. They need help now.
Donovan Mitchell would help. Between him, Curry and Poole, the Warriors would have, by far, the best guard rotation in the NBA. We’re not even including Thompson, who they’d presumably move to the 3 full-time. He’s got the strength and defensive IQ to man the position.

The Warriors won’t bother to do anything this drastic if they win the NBA championship this season. Even a Finals appearance would probably warrant a smaller move. If they fall short of that target, all bets should be considered off this summer.
